Sam Eason – With Hope EP

Sam Eason - With Hope EPSam Eason is a Bath based singer songwriter and With Hope is his first EP for Circus City Records. Throughout the five songs on this EP, Eason draws us into his world with interesting instrumentation and textures intertwined with his pure, soulful voice.

Opening track “Epitaph Pt I” features a sample of a H.D Carberry’s poem "Epitaph". It's a bold and confident start to the EP, and immediately shows this songwriter doesn't feel like he needs to please anyone with a catching opening track, but rather is someone capable of creating an interesting and intriguing piece of work.

Elements of the With Hope EP draw comparisons to Damien Rice, Elbow and Stornoway, with lyrics that paint pictures and melodies that enter your head and stay with you for days. Lyrics talk about growing up and finding the best way and this feels like an EP where Sam Eason has really found his own feet at songwriter. Closing track “Leave the Dark Low” features gorgeous harmonies and builds to leave the listener with a warm heart and optimism to take on whatever the world brings.

With Hope really demonstrates Sam Eason’s talent for writing catchy emotive guitar led melodies. Definitely one for anyone liking indie folk songwriters.
