Introducing: Saltwater Sun

Saltwater SunWho didn't love a bit of The Cardigans, back in the day? New Hand in Hive signees Saltwater Sun conjure up the same level of infectious revere famed of the Swedish band on their latest song and public debut, "Habit on my Mind". Stream the track below.

The comparison is in no small part thanks to front woman Jennifer Stearne's sometimes deadpan vocal, which affects Nina Persson as much as it does Britpop pioneers Sleeper. Compared to blissed-out Canadian poppers Alvvays elsewhere; there's no denying Saltwater Sun have the summer on their side. There is, however, also a lick of epic pop-rock goodness to their swagger that suggests they'll outlast the weather that best compliments their music.

Based in West London, Saltwater Sun signed to Hand in Hive last month and have already released a stream of their lead track, "Habit on my Mind". With artwork by Andrew Richards and a high rank on Hype Machine, it's going down a treat on the blogosphere. Press from GoldFlakePaint, When the Gramophone Rings and TMRW suggest this band could well be the UK's next pop darlings.
