Introducing: Foie Gras

Foie Gras aka Iphigenia Rose LeeGentle fuzz that bites... Foie Gras is the guitar-driven solo project of Iphigenia Rose Lee.

Based in San Francisco, Lee writes dark, melodic songs that dazzle. Foie Gras is undeniably enigmatic and loud, while staying true to the project's goth drone meet Americana-folk roots.

Lee has been releasing music as Foie Gras since 2013, and her standout single "Red Moon" is reminiscent of Garbage and King Woman. Hazy vocals linger in the air and saunter from ear to ear, as you drift into weightlessness and the song slowly dances through a smoke-filled room. Lyrically beautiful, it's a love song with dark and light shades, as Lee sings, "Cause you're the only one that I need, you're the only thing that I see, I would kill for you." This lightness is juxtaposed by a vicious ending which unfurls the depths of the musician's soul.

Foie Gras makes music that's at the darker end of the shoegaze spectrum, reflecting a delicate and beautiful battle of suffering and living all at the same time. Lee's music is like finding a rainbow in the middle of a black hole; shocking and unexpected yet welcomed with open arms and tears in your eyes.

After a short hiatus over the past couple of years, Lee garnered momentum at SXSW this year, and is gearing up to release new music via Yellow Year Records this year in April with her 6 song EP Holy Hell.
