Introducing: Bad Child

Bad ChildIn a world where chill pop, heavy percussion and a killer hook are the norm, it takes something special for an emerging artist to standout from the crowd. Fortunately for Bad Child's Isaiah Steinberg, his project oozes with a powerful charisma that will - luck withstanding - overcome stereotypes of the hype factory.

Born out of the Toronto music scene, Bad Child has so far spent 2019 gearing up for the release of his debut album Free Trial, leaving a slew of catchy singles in his wake. DW favourite "Breathing Fire" is reminiscent of The Japanese Sound coming up to Alex Winston. It's not as timeless as Amber Bain's work due to a fierce and very of-the-time growled vocal, but it clearly stands apart from the soulless drivel of the mainstream.

Previous release "Pretty Girls" is an earworm akin to Pillar Post and also features on debut EP Sign Up, which was released this summer through Capitol Records and mixed by Spike Stent (Frank Ocean, Beyonce). At 7 full tracks long, the taster explores Bad Child's mantra. With Free Trial hinted for a 2020 release, suggests a prolific career to come.

Steinberg hasn't left his success in the hands of the charts - he also performed at festivals the Great Escape, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Osheaga this year and regularly haunts local Toronto venues. This guy clearly means business.
