Bristol Ladyfest countdown: The Horn the Hunt

The Horn the HuntBorn in the Pennines of West Yorkshire, founding members Clare Carter and Joe Osborne formed The Horn the Hunt somewhere between a log cabin in Greenland and the fjords of Norway in 2008, and have since been joined by Alice Miller and Conor Lawrence.

Until recently signed to White Label Music, their 2011 album Depressur Jolie ranked up top marks from everyone who heard it, even causing Drowned in Sound to note they “play the call and response game perfectly”. DrunkenWerewolf named it “a genuinely thrilling piece of work; a faultless, beautiful experience”.

Obviously influenced by the barren, isolated but ultimately stark and beautiful landscapes that have twice bore them; the band’s music moulds a sometimes Björk-esque vocal with a tribal, raw, but nevertheless futuristic electronica. Live there’s a powerful sense of being engulfed in synth and percussion, held steady by Carter’s deft lyrics. Like Straylings they may not be the best known band on the bill, but they’ll be the band everyone in the audience is talking about come the end of the night.

Get your tickets to see The Horn the Hunt at Bristol Ladyfest here or from The Bristol Ticket Shop before the end of the day (5pm).
