When Ladyfest booked Rozi Plain alongside This is the Kit and Rachael Dadd we had to grab our tea set to make sure it didn’t fly away in blissful astonishment. As well as being standout members of the city’s Cleaner Records collective; together Plain, Dadd and Kate Stables are the ultimate example of Bristol’s music scene.
Unfortunately since the release of her debut album Inside. Over Here, Winchester born Rozi – real name Rosalind Leyland - has moved to the Big Smoke. But that just means Bristol Ladyfest is an ideal opportunity to catch up on her glorious and self-defined ‘slower and faster’ songs. Her performance will also offer a unique glimpse at new record Joined Sometimes Unjoined, songs from which Rozi will showcase ahead of the album’s release on July 30th.
Rising to fame following support slots with Devandra Banhart, James Yorkston and Viking Moses, musical prowess runs in Rozi’s veins: her brother is Sam Leyland of Romanhead. She’s also made appearances at Green Man, The Great Escape, End of the Road and Homegame, amongst multiple UK tours and hometown performances.
