Video: The Japanese House unveil dreamy video for “Saw You in a Dream”

Saw you in a dreamImagine a 1930s, Hollywood-style dreamscape where love is all soft focus and over the top dance routines, and you'll have nailed the new The Japanese House video. "Saw You in a Dream" will be released as a single on 16th June 2017 via Dirty Hit, and you can stream the video below.

Like a scene straight from La La Land, the video moves through the lyrical content with a sentimental flourish and choreography that wouldn't look out of place on an episode of Strictly Come Dancing. Yet despite this rather mawkish cinematic offering, "Saw You in a Dream" is anything but sentimental or sappy. It poses a strength and integrity when dealing with the subject of loss that's neither maudlin nor self-indulgent. It is, in fact, a song of light and shade, of love lost but not forgotten. In this context then the video reveals its purpose - not as something ironic or kitsch, but as a celebration of that one perfect moment where the love we missed is returned to us, if only in a dream.

Putting all of that aside, "Saw You In A Dream" is also just a great song. It doesn't require much for Amber Bain's vocals to radiate, and in this case, just a few well-placed strings - of the guitar variety, not just the heart.

"Saw You In A Dream" is available on Spotify / Apple Music / iTunes / 12” vinyl. We're also pretty excited for her forthcoming set at Parklife Festival on June 10th 2017.
