Video: Sweet Baboo shares the uplifting folk of “Wild Imagination”

Wild ImaginationSweet Baboo, the moniker of Welsh folk musician Stephen Black, has shared the new video for his single "Wild Imagination".

The title track from his upcoming album, the video for "Wild Imagination" finds Black imagining cloning himself for company.

Director James Hankins says of the video: "Steve basically gave me complete free reign and said he was open to any ideas, which is the kind of offer that always excites me. We thought linking the three videos (from the album) together in some way would be good. Hopefully they'll all work together as one whole thing too. Originally I wanted to make a musical, like "Singin' In The Rain" ha! ..but i was taken off that course when Steve told me he still had the head from his album cover. This then lead me down another route which you'll see. We begin with part one which is titled "Wild Imagination". Steve's all alone at home so he begins to clone himself for company"

Black says of the single, "I’m hoping that the sentiment of the song is pretty universal. As with a lot of this album, I wanted to convey the same sense of hope and joy I feel when I listen to Robert Wyatt or Arthur Russell singing. Musically, I love the mix of Jeff Lynne acoustics, cheap drum machine, Talking Heads keyboard riffs and Wings guitar licks and the middle eight is lifted straight from the Euros Childs songbook."

Wild Imagination is out 2nd June on Moshi Moshi.
