Premiere: De Staat release video for “Wait for Evolution (Vinticious Version)”

De StaatToday Dutch band De Staat will release their latest record Vinticious Versions through Cool Green Recordings and the Mascot Label Group. To celebrate their fourth album to date, we premiere the fan-made video for lead track “Wait for Evolution (Vinticious Version)” below. The video was contributed by Remon Claassen following a highly competitive Vinticious Versions Video Contest.

Vinticious Versions catches up with five-piece De Staat a year after the release of their third studio affair, I_CON – an album front man Torre Florim describes as “very much guitar driven, but weirder.” Known for their alternative rock sound, Vinticious Versions showcases a different approach from the band, reimagining a variety of De Staat songs through a 60s/70s lens.

We're a very sound based band so if we're going to make the song smaller, it's got to be different. In our recordings we’ve used sounds from the 60s and 70s, I like the Tarantino vibe on songs such as The George Baker Selections’ “Little Green Bag” – I really like the sound of that,” explains Florim.

“Wait for Evolution (Vinticious Version)” leads the pack for Vinticious Versions with a stripped back, bluesy strut. Although it doesn’t lose sight of De Staat’s original style of music, it simultaneously embraces a fresh lick that compares to the guitar wielding likes of The Black Keys and studio manipulators extraordinaire, dEUS.
