Tour: horror composer John Carpenter to play Simple Things festival

John CarpenterLegendary horror composer and director John Carpenter is to play Bristol, as the finale to the Simple Things festival weekend this year.

Part of a wider tour, the stand alone concert will see Carpenter performing a retrospective of his soundtrack work as well as original compositions taken from his Lost Themes albums, accompanied by a full live band and spectacular visuals.

Ticketed separately from the main festival, the concert on 23rd October 2016 will provide a unique opportunity to experience Carpenter's work in a live musical setting.

John Carpenter has been responsible for much of the horror genre's most striking soundtrack work in movies he's both directed and scored, such as Assault on Precinct 13, Halloween, The Fog, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, Prince of Darkness and They Live to name a few.

In February 2015, John Carpenter released his first solo record of non soundtrack music, Lost Themes, to overwhelming critical success. This year's follow up album Lost Themes II received similar acclaim, exploring new musical frontiers while retaining Carpenter's trademark sinister style.

The main Simple Things Festival takes place across multiple Bristol venues on 22nd October. Find out more from their website.

Lost Themes II is out now on Sacred Bones records. See John Carpenter tour dates below. Find out more about Carpenter's work on his website.
