Introducing: Llovers

LloversLove is a complicated game. Some play to win; others play to lose and write songs about it. Based on their music, up and coming quintet Llovers decided to go for the latter. Their sparkling indie pop sound, characterised by bright guitar textures and pinpoint harmonies, masks a deeper disconnection with the world around them. Jack Brooks sings lyrics that are dripping with disillusionment, sung in his anguish-tinged high vocal register. There's a bit of Wild Beasts about them, but in a more indie rock, guitar-heavy setup.

Hailing from Teesside, the band consists of Jack Brooks (vocals/guitar), David Macnab (vocals/guitar), Joe Connor (bass/backing vocals), Matthew Jenkinson (drums) and Ben Connor (synths). They were formed back in 2016 by Brooks and MacNab, who were working at McDonald's at the time and seeking to escape from the clutches of the fast food industry. Sure, the promise of free french fries for life is tempting, but they just don't taste the same as they used to...

Fast forward 18 months, and with hindsight, it was an excellent escape plan. The band have been featured on an Adidas advert with "Feeling Sound", playlisted on Spotify's The Indie List, showcased on a stream of online blogs and zines, and have already opened for the likes of Little Comets and Palace. With this exciting platform set, they've just released their new single "Just Lust", a glorious number decrying stereotypes in society, which opens mournfully soft, before growing into a swirling climax.
