Introducing: Emily Clibourn

Emily ClibournLuxurious, jazz inspired vocals are at the fore of Emily Clibourn's new track "Fools Gold". The new single, which is out now through iTunes, is taken from the artist's upcoming album, the appropriately titled Black Velvet. As of yet unsigned, the Los Angeles based singer songwriter is using Kickstarter to fund the full length. Visit her crowdfunding page and pledge towards Black Velvet here.

With Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey providing contemporary reference points; Clibourn is perhaps better compared to jazz and soul musicians of old, drawing from a classic but still beguiling creative treasure trove. There's doubtlessly a timeless quality to her vocal, which licks and curls like a cat around her piano-based style of sound. Excellent production seals the deal, and makes this lady one to watch in the not too distant future.

Having previously worked as an actor, Clibourn has now focuses her attention on the world of music, working with the likes of Curtis Byrd (Baby Bash), The Lost Children of Babylon, Antoneus Maximus and DJ Motiv8 in the process. Despite this fresh ambition, Clibourn's been writing her own material since she was 13 years old, adding an established weight to her obvious talent.
