Introducing: Crushed Stars

Crushed StarsThe up to date music fan doesn’t have to be told that pairing a fuzzed out guitar with vocals that reminisce on the Northern scene in the 80s is all the rage. The genre was popular in the first place, and with oodles of substandard musicians latching onto the craze, there’s an obvious concern of over saturation in 2014. Fortunately Dallas band Crushed Stars overcome this problem with an all out, undeniably fantastic new song called “Haters”.

A track like this simply can’t lead to a tired sound. There for all to hear, it’s still impossible to hate the Echo & the Bunnymen influence. While My Blood Valentine chug through on the bass, Jesus & the Mary Chain cough over the vocals. “Haters” might be an amalgamation of every band that’s come before Crushed Stars, but it’s a damn good showcase of talent.

The track was recorded with Grammy award winning producer Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Modest Mouse, Cat Power) and features on Crushed Stars’ forthcoming album Farewell Young Lovers, due out on 21st January 2014 through Simulacra Records. Already championed by Consequence of Sound and Magnet, it’s sure to be an early success of the year.
