Introducing: Blanco White

Blanco WhiteBlanco White's hauntingly beautiful sound is a thing to behold. With nothing more than his flamenco infused guitar, his slightly gravelly vocal tones and some ethereal scatterings of backing vocals and strings, it is a bewitchingly simple sound. It paints darkness with occasional clearings of light. This is music you want to hear by a crackling campfire, surrounded only by the trees and the spirits that surely haunt them.

His lyrics are tinged with mysticism. In "Colder Heavens" it barely shrouds a portrait of self-hate: "Now I find in every mirror a ghost, only once I saw the killer, once I saw the killer up close." The song beats with a gentle, drawn out rhythm, and boasts a sound that, despite his stripped back set up, is surprisingly rich and full. With a more frantic strumming style, "El Buho" (literally meaning 'the owl') is another standout number, slightly brighter in its vocal melodies but with the same richness of sound.

For fans of anyone who loves their acoustic music and especially Spanish guitar, he is well worth a close eye as we eagerly await a debut album...
