Introducing: An Early Bird

An Early BirdFor some of us, simply meeting our heroes can be enough. For Stefano De Stefano, it wasn't. In the years he was fronting Italian alt-folk trio Pipers, he was fortunate enough to share the stage with some of his favourite artists and influences - touring Europe with the likes of Ocean Colour Scene and Turin Brakes and opening Italian shows for Jack Savoretti, Joshua Radin and Rachel Sermanni. To be fair, when you hear his music, 'fortune' has nothing to do with it. Rather he has caught the attention of this stream of bigger names, along with such tastemakers as XFM, MTV and NME (basically all the three-letter outlets) with his sincerely crafted music - what he himself describes rather succinctly as "heartfelt songs for bold-hearted people."

Currently working on his debut solo album - to be released under his new moniker, An Early Bird - he has provided us with a glimpse of his new sound direction with "Warning Signs". A beautiful vocal duet with Georgiana Craciun, it's a gentle folk-inspired number in the vein of Turin Brakes, with some intriguing chord sequences mixed in, and smatterings of strings and piano around the acoustic guitar chords and light drums. Unsurprisingly, for someone who used to work as a postman alongside his creative endeavours, the delivery is perfect (sorry, I just couldn't resist: it's my birthday today and so I'm feeling particularly light headed)...

The An Early Bird song is coupled with an intimate and elegantly put together black and white music video, available to stream below.
