News: HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 offers unique mix of philosophy and music

HowTheLightGetsIn 2016For those looking for something a bit different from their festival experience, HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 offers a unique blend of philosophy and music.

Hosted by the Institute of Art and Ideas, the festival has been described by Total Politics as "Europe’s answer to TED." 2016's line up offers a series of world leading thinkers, alongside 200 of Britain's best up and coming musical artists.

This year's theme is 'The Known, the Strange and the New'. The speakers, ranging from Natalie Bennett to Roger Scruton to Brooke Magnati, will be looking at the strange and unexpected things that always arise just when we think we've got to the bottom of something.

As you'd expect, the musical line up is equally diverse.

Ghostpoet will be bringing his new alternative rock direction to festival goers. Folk fans are well catered for, with both King Charles and the seminal folk rock of Fairport Convention. By now a veteran of the live circuit, Tom Robinson is sure to be worth checking out. DrunkenWerewolf favourites This is the Kit and Stealing Sheep are also on the bill.

Then those not yet entirely exhausted can get their dancing shoes on with clubbing heavyweights like Gilles Peterson and Annie Nightingale.

HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 takes place 26th May - 5th June 2016 in Hay-on-Wye. Find out more about HowTheLightGetsIn on their website.
