Glass Animals unveil video for “Black Mambo”

Glass Animals unveil video for "Black Mambo"Glass Animals continue to produce wonderful visual accompaniments with the new video to their latest single “Black Mambo”, which will be officially released 23rd March.

Directed by David Helman (Flying Lotus and Blu), “Black Mambo” was shot in Morelos, Mexico. With a motif that hints at the iconic “Still D.R.E.” and the candle lit warmth of the latter third of Django Unchained, “Black Mambo” is drenched in mood and style, a trend we’ve come to expect in Glass Animals videos.

"The concept for ‘Black Mambo’ started with this theme of deception,” explains Helman. “As I was working out ideas and listening to the track, it always felt like the lightness of the melody was a mask for some darker narrative. The rest of the concept slowly grew from there where I began to develop this rabbit hole storyline and started blending that with the imagery from the album.”

With each release it’s a staunch reminder why Glass Animals have exploded with such ferocity. Their slightly off center brand of pop is as intriguing as it is accessible, a perfect hybrid of the electro-centric pop and the groove orientated structures a la Foals.

It won’t be long before Glass Animals embark on their largest UK headline tour, and with several dates already sold out it looks to be one that will be remembered fondly. Sadly though, we’re remiss to tell you that the previously listed show at Moles has been relocated to Komedia. We miss you Moles.

Watch “Black Mambo” now and head to our previous post for all tour dates.
