Video: The Coathangers go ghoulish for “Captain’s Dead”

Captain's Dead

Atlanta punks The Coathangers kick off their huge European tour this week with a twisted video for the nautically nonsensical "Captain’s Dead" single.  The purveyors of everything grimy and brash combine Kiss style makeup with Stephen King-esque horror scenes for a video that is both freaky and hilariously kitsch.

"Captain’s Dead" is The Coathangers’ response to the tumultuous political climate of America at the end of 2016. The video feels like the scripting of a personal nightmare. The combination is unapologetically mutinous.

"Captain’s Dead" is taken from the forthcoming Parasite EP, a whimsical collection of pirate-punk shanties out 30th June 2017 via Suicide Squeeze.

If the new video has wet your appetite for all things seafaring then The Coathangers will be playing 10 UK dates starting this week in Manchester.

Tickets are available from the band's official site.

May - 12th @Night & Day, Manchester // 13th @ The Joker, Brighton // 15th @The Exchange, Bristol // 16th @The Bullingdon, Oxford // 17th @Oslo, London // 18th @The Printworks, Hastings // 19th @The Cookie, Leicester // 20th Gold Sounds @ Brudenell Social, Leeds // 21st @The Harley, Sheffield // 23rd @Music Hall, Ramsgate

The Coathangers are also playing throughout Europe finishing at the Sideways festival in Helsinki on 10th June 2017.
